WITH HOME SOLAR AND BATTERY POWER

ENERGY NOW HAVE THE SOLAR ENERGY SOLUTIONS

Generating your own power gives you energy independence therefore you could spend 90% less on your electricity bills. By powering your home with green, clean energy you will reduce your reliance on expensive power from the grid, whilst getting paid for power you don’t use.

Installing a battery puts you in complete control

Installing a battery will allow you take your self sufficiency to the next level by powering your home with 100% green energy even when the sun goes down. Your battery can be charged at night. Charging your battery at night allows you to purchase power at the lowest rate, then discharge it when the highest electricity rates apply. This allows you to to maximise your solar savings as you take advantage of the various energy tariffs.

THE MAIN QUESTION WE GET ASKED IN THE UK IS, DO PANELS WORK WHEN IT’S CLOUDY?

Yes – Even when it’s cloudy and grey, snowing or raining the panels will still generate electricity if it’s outside, although less will be generated than in bright sunshine. The only time the panels won’t generate is at night when the sun isn’t shining, that’s when the battery kicks in.

WHAT IS BATTERY STORAGE?

A battery will allow you to store any electricity you don’t use, so that instead of exporting the energy back to the grid, you can it later when the sun isn’t shining. The initial cost for battery is higher than solar panels alone, but it’s a great idea if you wish to be self-sufficient and avoid spending money on pricey electricity from the grid in the long-run. You can also guarantee that the majority of the electricity you’re using is 100% clean, green and home-generated.

HOW DO I GET PAID TO EXPORT ENERGY?

Once your installation is complete, you’ll start generating electricity straight away, but it will take a couple of weeks before your export MPAN is ready and you can start getting paid for the energy you export.

What is an MPAN?

An MPAN is the number that identifies the specific electricity supply point for your home. To the expert eye, it contains some important information about your supply.

Your MPAN is separate to the account number or customer number that your energy supplier might give you. It’s not connected to your energy account, but to the actual energy supply at your property. This means it should always stay the same, even if you switch suppliers.

DOES IT MATTER WHAT TYPE OF ROOF I HAVE?

Any roof where water is able to run off the solar panels will be suitable, but a pitched roof is best, as it can provide the best angle for a solar panel to face the sun, without having to use an A-frame.

DO I NEED PLANNING PERMISSION?

The only time you will need planning permission to install Solar Panels is when the property is listed or in a conservation area. In cases where your system will require a 5kWh inverter (usually around 12 panels or more), we’ll need to get in touch with your distribution network operator (DNO) to ask for permission. This process usually takes a couple of weeks but we will sort everything for you.

What is a solar panel warranty?

A solar panel has two warranties: a performance and equipment guarantee. A solar panel’s performance warranty will typically guarantee 90% production at 10 years and 80% at 25 years. An equipment warranty will typically guarantee 10-12 years without failing.

A solar panel’s product warranty insurance covers the integrity of the panel itself and protects you against problems such as manufacturing defects, environmental issues, premature wear and tear etc. As with most warranties, a longer period is generally more advantageous to you.

HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN THEM?

One of the best things about solar is that the panels are easy to maintain. The angle of the panels ensures that rain and snow will slide right off whilst cleaning them at the same time. Over time, you’ll need to be aware of anything new shading the panels to make sure you continue to get the very best out of them.
